Chana Masala (Chick Peas) Recipe
This is an authentic homemade Chana Masala Recipe originating from Punjab, India. Serve with chapatti, naan breads or enjoy on its own.
- 3 Tins of chick peas
- 1 Medium Onion (Chopped)
- Ginger Medium-Size
- 2 Cloves Garlic
- 1 tsp Jeera
- 4 tbsp Oil (Sunflower or Olive)
- 1 Large Tomato (Chopped)
- 2 small Chillies (To taste)
- Salt to Taste
- 1 tbsp Garam Masala
- 1 tsp Haldi
- 2 tbsp Tomato Puree
- Handfull of Chopped Coriander

Open the tinned chickpeas and drain the water. Give them a quick rinse and leave aside.

In a non-stick pan, heat the oil and add the jeera. Wait until the jeera starts sizzling and turns brown.

Add the chopped onion, ginger, garlic and stir until they turn golden brown.

Now, add the chopped tomato, tomato puree and chillies. Keep mixing for 1-2 minutes.

Next, add the salt, garam masala and haldi.

Finally, add chick peas and mix well for 5 minutes.

Before serving the chick peas, garnish with coriander.
